ACR Poker

Americas Cardroom ACR Poker EU

Me writing about ACR Poker is unfair, considering I don't even play the game. I mean I know how to, but I don't, regularly. There, disclaimer plastered.

Still, I got to write about them, because, well, it's my job.

Winning the medal for being one of the earliest sites that offered an online poker room, ACR, which is short for Americas Cardroom, has come a long way.

Born in 2001, and legally (physically too?...I don't know) located in Costa Rica, this site is primarily focused on the US and Canada-based poker players. Owned by Winning Poker Network, one of its bro brand is called True Poker.

It doesn't have any online gambling license, or nothing, but it doesn't need one. Most professional poker players know of this site. Whether they trust ACR, is well, another story. Its TrustPilot ratings, for example, are low; with many reviews complaining about it being a scam and tables being rigged and all.

Anywho, since it's offshore, and has been since the very beginning, its original website address is: acrpoker.eu.

So, professional poker is their thing. But, they've moved into sports betting and casino games too. I guess, squeeze-every-little-bit-of-juice business philosophy is what they're after.

Can't blame them. I would too.

ACR has seen its fair share of up and downs.

For example, this site was shut down in 2011, as it was called Doyles Room, but later renamed and relaunched as Americas Cardroom, after the US busted online poker sites back then.

It's not just them. The real target back then for the US government was Full Tilt and Pokerstars. Needless to say, all these sites are still alive and doing well.

Then there was a case of a DDOS attack that took down their platform for sometime in 2018. And a few "seemingly well reported" issues with Bitcoin withdrawal delays in 2017. But, nothing of similar nature has popped up recently. This suggests, their ship is sailing smooth. Such events are very common in the natural course of a company's life. No bother.

Anyway, I seem to be stuttering around the topic now. Let's get back on track.

ACR Poker is a good valid poker site, that attracts celeb poker players, much like Pokerstars.

Its payouts and deposits are straightforward. One can use BTC, check, e-wallets. Best of all, being a pro poker site - and being offshore too - one can make bigger deposits and withdrawals. Like per BTC transaction has an upper limit of $50k per week, and one can make as many transactions, as they like, of course over the course of several weeks. For US players, only BTC works.

Fast deposits can be made through Bitcoin, Luxon Pay, P2P etc. Ask their support for exacts.

Texas Hold’em is what the majority of their players play. And they always compete with each other. There's no man vs. poker-software thing.

Deposit bonuses are also above-average compared to its competitors like Pokerstars. You can enjoy up to $2k of free poker money.

They also got a Elite Benefits program for regular bigshots with cash rewards. And since players are always playing against each other, a leaderboard system keeps all the points tracked up, hence encouraging the winners to really push it.

Then there's Sit and Gos and their popular million dollar Sundays. Takes about $265 to have a go; the Sunday pool thing, that is.

Rake fee is high. Lots of complaints there. It's something like 5% though capped at $3.

They also got a presence on Reddit, has a mixed outlook on its brand image.

I've also read about the turtle-like speed of their software - at times - and disconnections. I personally don't believe this to be the norm. Internet likes to exaggerate.

Fencing it all up, I believe ACR Poker is a good site, if not the best. I'd lobby for keeping multiple accounts at big names like: rapid bonus giver, Ignition Casino; a fan favorite for iPhone users, SB Poker; gods of offshore betting like Bovada, BetOnline and Everygame; or Juicy Stakes and CoinPoker, known for their rakeback deals.

Whether poker is a game of skill or pure gambling is still heavily debated by half-dunce law makers around the world. But glancing behind the doorway of politics, you and I both know - deep down the bottom of the human-thought well - that the long term rate of continual success at this game has always rigidly kept a southern direction. Just keep this universal fact in the back of your mind, when on a winning roll. Never mistake luck with skill.

Cya.
